Australia's unemployment rate falls to 6.8 per cent despite 42,000 Victorians losing work

 Australia's unemployment rate has beaten expectations, falling to 6.8 per cent despite more than 42,000 Victorians losing work in the month of August alone.

New data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) showed that 111,000 residents found work or resumed their duties in the past month.

Just a month prior the unemployment rate was a staggering 7.5 per cent, with almost one million adults out of work.
