Melbourne’s most action-packed property markets revealed

Image
Homes are selling like hot cakes in Victoria’s affordable property havens. New realestate.com.au figures show Pakenham was the city’s most active housing market last year, with 1114 dwellings transacting. The vast majority of those (91.5 per cent) were houses, as entry-level buyers took advantage of the southeastern fringe suburb’s achievable $522,000 median price. Professionals Mildura director Tony Roccisano said Victoria’s top selling regional market was “on fire”. “(Mildura’s) in the middle of a food boom. And it’s one of the only places in Victoria where manufacturing is increasing, rather than decreasing,” he said. He said a growing number of migrants from smaller towns were moving to the region, in which billions of dollars had been invested in the past 18 months. Another drawcard was Mildura’s housing affordability, Mr Roccisano said: “But prices are starting to move on now. We’re selling a lot of houses over $1 million, though they usually have river frontage.” ...

For years now the real estate discussion has been all about rising house prices in Sydney and Melbourne and how hard it is to buy a house or find an affordable rental. But not any more. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=usfe9Ue6H90

A five-star restaurant is serving Melbourne's most exxy bento box

Image
Melbourne doesn't lack for luxe dining experiences. We've got five-star restaurants to spare, not to mention a $100 plate of hummus. And now you can indulge in this high-end takeaway in the city thanks to Japanese fine diner Ishizuka. It is making exactly one bento per day, Wednesdays to Sundays, which can be collected between 3pm and 7pm. It serves two to three people and costs a whopping $255. But, for context, the tasting menu when you visit the restaurant is $220 per person, so you could spin it as a money saver.  If you are the lucky recipient of the day's bento you can expect a beautiful, three-layered serving box imported from Japan that's been packed with bite-sized snacks that span entrée to dessert – a kaiseki menu in miniature. And if the pictures are anything to go by it looks fancy AF – we're talking whole lobsters, perfect little sashimi and omelette cubes, and macarons.  https://www.timeout.com/melbourne/news/a-five-s...

What to expect from Melbourne’s brand new foodie precinct, ELLA

You know I’ve said it before, but Melbourne is an incredible city. I LOVE living here and feel so blessed to be a part of the vibrant food culture where I can enjoy an abundance of different types of food to enjoy each week. Eating out in Melbourne is a massive part of our lifestyle. Not only is it super affordable but the choices are pretty impressive. So here are some things I’ve tried that I want to share with you to enjoy next time you’re in town. Agathe Bakery  – Rated 4.6 stars (154 reviews) Located in the centre of the South Melbourne Markets, Agathe’s Bakery is designed with an open shop front that you can see right through. You’re going to drool while you wait in line as you stare directly at the racks filled with baked buttery pastry treats. And don’t even get me started about the intoxicating smell of freshly baked pastry – it’s incredible! You can easily avoid the queues if you arrive early during the week. So what did I try? Well, I punished one of their over...

What’s on in Melbourne – Things to do in Autumn

Melbourne is always full of fun events to enjoy and spectacular shows to see. I’ve put together a list of four things happening this Autumn and Winter to make it easier to decide what to enjoy in Melbourne. 1.Watch a funny play I received two tickets to watch The Play That Goes Wrong (a London comedy hit that is currently touring Australia). The play is set as a 1920’s murder mystery and while the cast act, various types of weird, wacky, and utterly hilarious accidents take place on the set, right before your eyes. For example, props break up, walls fall, people seem to get injured, or worse, they go missing during the performance, and that’s just the tip of the iceberg! It’s a seriously funny play, and I enjoyed being able to laugh myself silly. If you’re looking for unpredictable, unusual live comedy to watch this show is for you. 2.Watch a speculator ballet performance I bought tickets to see The Sleeping Beauty by the Australian Ballet at the State Theatre, a...
